September 2009 – Building Work Progress
On a site visit on 8 September, 2009, we saw the progress being made on the build
and learned about the build schedule…
Construction of the concrete cores consisting of lift shafts and stairwells are now complete.
The fixing plates for the steel structure are being fitted to the cores and the steel beams are
starting to arrive on site. For the next 10 weeks it will be like a giant Meccano set as the
steel structure is pieced together. Also during the next few weeks the stairs will be fitted into
the stairwells giving greater access to the upper levels as they begin to take shape.
